London Drupalcon Session - Entities - Emerging Patterns Of Usage

Presented by
Ronald Ashri
Entities are a powerful new abstraction introduced in Drupal 7 that can provide new ways to approach and resolve several often-encountered development problems. Questions remain though as to when and how entities can best be put to use.

We believe that to a large extent answers can be found by studying and comparing existing modules that make use of entities such as Commerce, Organic Groups, Message and Media as well as looking at the modules that enhance core entity functionality such as Entity and Relationship.

London Drupalcon Session With One Click

Presented by
Marcus Deglos
Joel Spolsky describes the Joel Test as his "highly irresponsible, sloppy test to rate the quality of a software team" and one of the questions he asks is: Can you make a build in one step?

If you're a Drupal developer who's making changes to a site, your deployment process to push those changes to live probably goes something like this:

1. SSH to the live server
2. Checkout the updated code from SVN
3. Go to the admin modules page, enable some modules
4. Go to the configuration pages for those modules, make some changes

Ajax module and CCK

In this presentation at the Downtown LA Drupal meetup at Droplabs on August 16, 2011, Steve Rifkin (@steverifkin) of Exaltation of Larks (@LarksLA), demonstrates the use of the Ajax module for Drupal and defines a plugin to use with its API for both the module (PHP) and the Javascript API. He demonstrate ajaxifying individual fields on a node that can be edited inline and then shows he did it. If you've wished for inline editing on your Drupal website, this demonstration will be a good stepping stone for you.

Organize with Context, Manage with Features

Context is really helpful for defining the structure of your site. This video will show you how to divide your site into sections, assign blocks to those sections, create section based body classes and lots of other cool tricks. it will also explain how stacking contexts works with more complex sites. Features can serve several purposes. It can export certain objects from the database to a structured array in a file that can then be versioned. This practice greatly simplifies the process of migrating changes from one server to another.

Drupal Advanced Drush Remote Commands

With the new Drush remote command support, it's easier than ever to pull databases from one environment to another, rsync the files directory, and do deploys, and I'd love to show the theory and some practice on how to do so.
